Drumming gives us a chance to express our own individual rhythm. 

In any Drum Cafe rhythm event, like-minded individuals come together and merge their rhythmical experience into one musical expression or “group vision”.

It is an interactive event - each individual is not a spectator, but a performer who is involved at the same level as his/her colleague, enforcing a cooperative, non-competitive relationship amongst the group.  Organizational charts are vertical or hierarchical, while drumming circles are ‘flat’.

The process of creating music, like business, has to be understood by everyone to succeed. Nothing brings to life the key elements of effective communication and teamwork as does a group of people attempting to create music together.

In this way drumming helps create a rhythm that bonds and builds a team. When communication 'happens', you know it and it feels right.
When it's not happening, that too is apparent. Each member recognizes his/her own importance. It lets them find that their input, no matter how small, can make a marked difference to the success of the whole.

Nico-Nico = Smile Project

Over the past year, Drum Cafe has performed over 300 events in order to comat post traumatic stress in Japan schools.

Nico nico in Japanese means to smile. Our initiative is to employ 4 people full time, and travel to schools, hospitals and shelters. We have done iit all for free.

Drumming is very good for post traumatic stress disorder. One of the four was a clinical psychologist, so we could identify and help traumatised children on the spot. The other three where special Drumming Therapists. So the program would really help a lot of people.

We planned approx 2 shows a day. Around 100 people at a time. Smaller is better for healing work. So we could cover 200 people a day or 4000 people a month. This would put a smile on a lot of children's faces. And sew the seeds of hope in a community in need. Read More....
