Meg Loewen is a passionate individual who has dedicated herself to studying and playing African drums since 2010. Her journey began while completing her education degree, where she discovered the power of incorporating music into the classroom. This experience sparked a love for drumming that has stayed with her ever since.

In 2015, Meg joined Drum Cafe Winnipeg, an organization that focuses on promoting African drumming and creating engaging musical experiences. Through her involvement with Drum Cafe, Meg has further honed her drumming skills and expanded her knowledge of African rhythms and traditions.

However, Meg’s musical journey extends beyond drumming. She has a diverse background in music, having studied piano and trumpet in addition to singing in multiple choirs. This breadth of musical experience has shaped her understanding of music and its ability to connect people from different backgrounds.

Currently, Meg works with newcomers to Canada, leveraging her passion for drumming and music to build inclusive communities where everyone’s stories can be heard. Through her work, she strives to create a welcoming environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together and share their experiences through music.
